My practice involves minimal form and constructive approaches to image making.
I use multi-disciplinary approaches to explore slow light in which the glow of a hidden colour creates subtle reflection and refraction. Spaces and surfaces capture or transform ambient light.
After spending the northern summers of 2011, 2012 and 2013 cloaked in Nordic light I have been excited by the powerful yet transient qualities of light. I use architectonic and structural forms to engage light as a palpable experience. The nuances of light and colour are enlivened as the viewer moves about the works and as the ambient light shifts.
Artists, designers and architects in neo-minimalist and modernist genres have greatest intrigue and inspiration.... including Olafur Elliasson, Alvar Aalto and Christian Haub as well as antipodeans Marion Borgelt and Gemma Smith.
