Growing up on the goldmines in South Africa led to a fascination in rocks and gold smelting.
I graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring Geology and Geography.
Following this, I pursued my passion for rocks and gemstones and completed a Diploma in Gemmology through London.
I then moved to America with my family where I worked appraising gemstones and began creating jewellery.
In 1993 I moved to Australia where I commenced goldsmithing courses in 1996, finishing the vocational course at the Goldsmith School in 1998, followed by the ACE course in 2002.
I was in a cooperative at the Graceville Gallery from 2001-2009 and the whole experience was an artistic journey.
The inspiration of other artists and the thrill of selling work in a suburban art gallery on a daily basis was a rich experience.
The other mediums of art influenced my work and broadened my horizons.
In 2000 I won 2nd prize at the Maroochy Arts Festival.
I was a finalist in the Memento Awards for two years running.
The first year saw the creation of ‘Brisbane Stories’, a business cardholder.
The second year I received a distinction for ‘Pending Stories’, a pen holder, in 2005.
I created the Australian Masters Championship Women’s Interstate Eight for Rowing trophy in 2006.
This trophy will be carried down through the winning team for many years to come.
I love all aspects of jewellery making from setting stones, to forging spoons.
I enjoy the creativity of each new piece from the initial metal form to the finished polished item.
I work in 18ct Gold and Sterling Silver, creating a piece of jewellery from a bar or sheet of metal is exciting.
I have made timeless unique engagement and wedding rings that please many couples.
My sports memorabilia line includes many rowing pieces, from charms to spoons and cardholders.
Swimming, hockey, tennis, rugby, cricket, golf and soccer items have been created.
Commissions for all sports creations are welcomed.
Framed pieces with the club/school colours and emblems in the background are a continuous success.
I am proud of my work and achieve much fulfilment with each creation.
